ISG Jackson Special Projects has recently commenced work on a circa ?1.5 million project with Essex County Council to remodel the Wilson Marriage Adult Learning Centre in Colchester. The Council?s investment to improve and extend the grade II listed building will help to centralise adult learning facilities within the town onto one site.
The Centre will remain open throughout the refurbishment project and ISG Jackson Special Projects has developed a carefully phased schedule of works to minimise potential disruption during the high profile scheme. Internally, the contractor will extend existing mechanical and electrical systems, carry out an extensive programme of redecoration and install new floor finishes. The accommodation has been thoughtfully re-designed to provide a range of flexible areas for art and craft classes, with specialist facilities for construction and brick laying courses.
A new nursery and cr?che facility will be constructed following the demolition of a glazed structure at the rear of the building. Within the existing facilities, a new kitchen will be installed and the contractor will also create a new internet caf? and cafeteria area, and flexible IT space. A large external element to the project sees ISG Jackson Special Projects form a new car park and carry out major drainage works, with the project due for completion at the end of August 2008.
Michael Manning, divisional director for ISG Jackson Special Projects, commented: "The growth of opportunities within the public sector continues to provide ISG Jackson Special Projects with an increasing tally of high profile project wins. As a company, we are committed to forging strong and long standing partnerships with key public sector clients and our high percentage of repeat business indicates that we are well on target to achieving this goal.?
