Britain?s first carbon-neutral village has been given the go ahead; although heating the houses could provide a major headache.
The Government has laid down plans to make all new builds ?carbon neutral? by 2016. Experts predict this will add an average of ?640 onto the cost of each new house. Just over a third of this will be spent trying to generate and conserve heat in the properties.
The ?Steni Nature? cladding system has proven itself to be effective at dramatically improving properties? thermal insulation. The product is environmentally friendly and is used to emulate the effects of natural timber, brick or stone.
Almura Building Products is the sole distributor of ?Steni Nature?, which has been used on several recent estate renovations*. Steni is a ?dry cladding? system, meaning it can be fitted at any time ? essential to cope with the changing British weather. The ?Steni? system will add additional rigidity and strength to the overall housing structure.
As well as cladding, Almura also offer a range of specially sourced building materials, including Terraza decking and Nichiha fabric cement. Almura is confident that its exclusive product range and valuable experience of similar projects could prove successful in helping developers to hit government targets.
