Savills Launch Country House Consultancy

Savills has launched a new Country House Consultancy and has appointed Philip Eddell; who joins Savills from Knight Frank, where he set up and ran a comparable service.

The new Country House Consultancy provides advice to owners of high value country houses and small estates. Generally these are new rather than existing owners and the properties range from locations throughout England and Europe.

The service is designed to cater for demanding high net worth individuals, often owning more than one home, with busy lives and next to no time to deal with every issue themselves.

Philip Eddell said: “This entails advice at every level; from protecting and enhancing asset value, advising on running and staffing costs, implementing new works; to such things as hiring staff, solving problems such as rights of way and general property and estate management issues.

While the Country House Consultancy service will obviously benefit from the relationship built up with buyers of properties for sale through Savills, Philip Eddell explains that sellers are usually buyers too and often retain him to advise on possible running costs of a house they are thinking of purchasing.

Philip Eddell said: “Buying a country house is usually a stressful experience and a major financial commitment. All the detail and relationships involved in dealing with the property can be very demanding and time consuming. So our aim, for both new and existing owners, is to make ownership as hassle free as possible”.
